Fundraising & Acquisition expert (24 hrs p/w)

About Both ENDS

Both ENDS is an environmental and human rights organisation with approximately 40 employees. We work with civil society organisations internationally on the themes of climate, sustainable land and water use and gender. Hereby we often focus on the global role of Dutch trade, money and (political) influence. We share knowledge with and raise money for our hundreds of partners in Africa, Asia and Latin America. We act jointly in influencing policy and initiate dialogue between our partners and policymakers.

We are funded by private donors and government organisations. We do most fundraising applications with partners from our extensive network in the Global South. Fundraising activities are managed by the Head of Fundraising & Acquisition. You will be a direct colleague who actively coordinates and collaborates with her.

What will you do

• Together with the Head of Fundraising & Acquisition, drive, guide and lead the fundraising process in the organisation as required
• Together with the Head of Fundraising & Acquisition, identify new fundraising opportunities and interest colleagues in them
• Initiate, facilitate and coordinate the development of project proposals, (co-)write proposals
• Together with the Head of Fundraising & Acquisition and colleagues, guide the development of (new) donor relationships and build relationships yourself, document these, ensure follow-up and (pro)actively support further development of the relationship, when relevant also through donor influencing activities
• Represent the organisation at external events and meetings e.g. to funders network meetings
• The further division of responsibilities will be defined in alignment with the current Head of Fundraising & Acquisition, based on preferences and competences

Who you are

• A passionate and experienced fundraiser with a heart for human rights and the environment
• A proven track record or a degree of knowledge of  the philanthropy sector and civil society organisations in and/or outside the Netherlands
• Ability to communicate clearly, creatively and convincingly with funders; and effective networker with at least 2+ years of experience in donor relationship building and writing fundraising proposals
• Able to creatively match Both ENDS' work  to fundraising opportunities; someone who can translate complex material to funders priorities
• Helicopter view / generalist who also dares to go in depth
• A self-starter: someone who can design and lead the outlines of a new project ‘from scratch’ – in co-creation with relevant colleagues and partners
• Demonstrated experience with coordination roles, able to work self reflectively and to pro-actively participate in the open feedback culture of our horizontal organization.
• Ambitious to grow further in this profession
• Complete professional proficiency Fluent in spoken and written English. Proficiency in Dutch at least at B1 level; other language skills (French, Spanish, Portuguese) are a plus.

Both ENDS offers

• An internationally oriented, dynamic and informal working environment in Utrecht
• A gross salary from € 3166,- to €4520,- based on full-time employment (38 hours), depending on education and experience
• A 12-month contract for 24 hours per week, with the possibility of extension.
